Bernardino A. Arocha, MD is de oprichter en enige chirurg van Arocha Hair Restoration, gevestigd in Houston met nevenvestigingen in Dallas en Austin, Texas.1 De kliniek laat zijn focus op het vak in 2002 beginnen en noemt als aanleiding zijn eigen haaruitval toen hij in de 20 was en zijn latere haartransplantatie.1 De totalen over zijn loopbaan verschillen per pagina: de bio-pagina noemt meer dan 8.000 ingrepen en 24 miljoen follikels.1 De kostenpagina noemt daarentegen meer dan 6.000 ingrepen en 15 miljoen follikels.2
Behandelingen en technieken
De kliniek biedt FUE, FUT, robotgestuurde FUE met ARTAS, revisiechirurgie, etnische haartransplantaties en transplantaties van gezichtshaar, scalp micropigmentation en de niet-chirurgische LaserCap LCPRO.3 Voor FUE gebruikt ze doorgaans een punch kleiner dan 0,9 mm, meestal 0,6 mm tot 0,7 mm, en worden de eenheden een voor een geplaatst om de omliggende groei na te bootsen.4 Bij FUT wordt de donorstrook met een eigen techniek ingesneden en verwijderd en in twee lagen gesloten; de littekens zouden in 6 tot 12 maanden rijpen.4 Een getuigenis van een patiënt die op de FUE-pagina is overgenomen, geen bewering van de kliniek zelf, zegt dat Arocha elke fase zelf uitvoert.4 Voor wie geen geschikte kandidaat is, noemt de kliniek alternatieven zoals minoxidil en finasteride, zonder gepubliceerde criteria.2
Prijzen
De prijstabel van de kliniek noemt $4.000 tot $15.000 voor FUE, $4.000 tot $10.000 voor FUT, $3.000 tot $15.000 voor transplantaties van gezichtshaar en $4.000 tot $15.000 voor revisiechirurgie.2 De kliniek stelt dat de verzekering niet bijdraagt aan de kosten.4 Reiskosten worden niet door de arts in rekening gebracht maar moeten wel worden begroot; betalen kan contant, met de gangbare creditcards, per cheque of met financiering via CareCredit.2
Boeken en nazorg
Consulten zijn gratis, in Houston of online.3 Voor patiënten buiten Houston zijn er virtuele opties via FaceTime, WhatsApp en Zoom.5 De gids van de kliniek omschrijft het consult als een bespreking van de medische voorgeschiedenis en de hoofdhuid en van de opties en doelen, waarna de behandeling wordt ingepland in een eigen operatiekamer.6 Die behandeling duurt volgens de beschrijving 6 tot 8 uur, en daarna vormen zich volgens de kliniek kleine korstjes die binnen ongeveer een week loslaten terwijl de hoofdhuid weer normaal wordt.6 De kliniek stelt dat haar betrokkenheid na de ingreep doorloopt, met nazorg op de lange termijn.5
Kwalificaties en lidmaatschappen
Arocha staat als ABHRS-diplomate bevestigd in het eigen register van de board.7 Hij staat ook als Fellow Member in het register van de ISHRS, dat geen lidmaatschapsjaar vermeldt.8 De eigen site van de kliniek stelt daarnaast dat hij sinds 2002 Fellow is.1 Verder meldt de kliniek zelf lidmaatschap van de International Board of Hair Restoration Surgery, de ASHRS en de AACS.1

Early on, they said the Arocha team was “top notch” and reported no complaints. By the final update, they felt mid-scalp density and hairline position had improved, but said desired density was not tracking and some transplanted hairs remained coarse, wiry, and wrongly directed. Friez1996 reported a 2023 FUE transplant with PRP by Dr. Bernardino Arocha in Houston, listing 2,414 grafts and about $12,000 at a five-month update. They initially reported soreness and later ingrown hairs, but described the experience positively throughout. At five months, they said they were “Extremely pleased with my results.”

jmill512 had about 1,500 FUE grafts for the hairline with Dr Arocha in Houston on 22 June 2023, in a 6.5-hour procedure; they posted the price as $9k at the time and about $10k in a later update. Right after surgery they said they were happy with it and the service, noting only that the right side looked slightly different because that is where they part their hair. At 6 months and again a year later they said they were really happy with results and called them strong, though they thought the facility could be more professional.

jdmitch1355 had surgery with Dr Arocha at Arocha Hair Clinic in Houston on 26-27 April 2024, 2,361 grafts plus PRP; he mentions "16k with the PRP" without a currency. He called the doctor very professional and present throughout, the staff polite and caring, and the appointment flawless. All his posts are from the day of surgery or days after, so no growth result is reported.

In 2026, ComprehensiveLie827 said they had visited Dr. Bernardino Arocha near Houston more than five years earlier. They reported that he suggested oral minoxidil, biotin, a laser cap, or PRP and advised trying those measures before a hair transplant. They did not report having surgery with him or give an overall judgment of him.

They said they were very pleased with the early results and characterized the experience as “Overall thrilled” and “Absolutely life changing.” Earlier, around 2½ months post-op, they reported really bad shedding but said regrowth was starting and later wrote, “Really good! Highly recommend.”

Watch-Inigo reported being one day post-op from a 3,500-graft FUE procedure with Bernardino Arocha in 2025, at $6.50 per graft (paid 22750 USD). They said about 2,300 grafts were placed in front and 1,200 in the crown. They characterized it as a “Great experience” and said the whole staff was “really great to work with.”

As of October 2025, u/Randomfollicle had not yet had surgery but was quoted $13,500 for treatment with Dr. Arocha directly, one of four clinics they were comparing. They called it 'the best experience dealing with' and noted they spoke only with Dr. Arocha himself during the consultation, though booking would mean flying to Houston. At the time of posting they were weighing this option specifically against a cheaper quote from another clinic.
