Dr Fares Seffen werkt als haartransplantatiespecialist in Tunis, Tunesië, in Résidence Nessma Medical in Berges du Lac 2 1. De kliniek stelt dat hij zijn eigen team van medisch assistenten opleidt in haartransplantatietechnieken 1. Volgens de teampagina is hij sinds 2012 hoofdarts van het centrum voor esthetische geneeskunde en haartransplantatie "Jugurtha" in Tunis 2. De kliniek omschrijft haar ruimte als ingericht in een "refined boutique style" met wachtruimtes, gratis drankjes en kunstwerken, naast een operatiekamer die volgens haar aan hoge technische normen voldoet 5.
Behandelingen en technieken
De kliniek noemt onder haar behandelingen FUE, haartransplantatie bij vrouwen, wenkbrauw-, baard- en snortransplantatie, herstellende en reconstructieve transplantatie, PRP, en therapie met minoxidil en finasteride 1. Voor FUE stelt de kliniek dat elke graft wordt geoogst met een punch van 0,7 tot 0,9 mm, handmatig of gemotoriseerd afhankelijk van de huiddikte en de kromming van het haar, en dat de ontvangende openingen worden gemaakt met op maat gemaakte mesjes die op elke graft zijn afgestemd, waarbij Dr Seffen het ontwerp, de verdoving, de extractie en de ontvangende openingen zelf doet 4. De FUE-pagina van de kliniek stelt dat Dr Seffen de foto's van de patiënt bekijkt en persoonlijk antwoordt met de haalbaarheid, een voorgestelde aanpak, een geschat aantal grafts en een offerte, en dat de haarlijn op de dag zelf wordt getekend en door de patiënt voor een spiegel wordt goedgekeurd, rekening houdend met het waarschijnlijke verdere verloop van de haaruitval 4. De kliniek stelt dat de extractie 400 tot 700 grafts per uur haalt, en dat ingrepen soms door twee chirurgen tegelijk aan weerszijden van de hoofdhuid worden gedaan 4. Volgens de homepage behandelt de kliniek één patiënt per dag 1. De FAQ van de kliniek koppelt de geschiktheid voor volledig herstel aan de dichtheid van het donorgebied ten opzichte van het kale gebied, waarbij gevorderde kaalheid en een beperkt donorgebied slechts gedeeltelijk herstel opleveren 3.

De kliniek stelt dat boeken kan beginnen met een online formulier of een gratis videoconsult via FaceTime of WhatsApp, waarin Dr Seffen de haarsituatie beoordeelt en een offerte opstelt 3. Ze raadt een preoperatief consult aan op de dag voor de ingreep, verplicht als de patiënt in de twee maanden daarvoor niet is gezien 5. De pagina over het verblijf van patiënten stelt dat buitenlandse patiënten meestal een verblijf van 3 tot 4 dagen plannen, inclusief een dag na de ingreep voor een controle 5. De kliniek beschrijft een postoperatieve follow-up van 15 maanden met geplande controlebezoeken 5.
Kwalificaties en lidmaatschappen
De kliniek stelt dat Dr Seffen geregistreerd is bij de Tunesische nationale raad van de orde van artsen, registratienummer 19953 1. De homepage noemt hem ook lid van drie wetenschappelijke verenigingen, de International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS), de European Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ESHRS) en het World FUE Institute (WFI), en zegt dat hij meerdere keren per jaar hun evenementen en workshops bijwoont 1. He said Seffen made all incisions and extracted about a third of the grafts himself, while a technician did the rest on day two when Seffen was not there for most of it. He first wrote he was happy and satisfied, but later said the transplant area is thin, he has keloids only in the transplanted areas, and he will need another transplant; he summed up that "he's alright, but there are others I would consider first above him for roughly $1 a graft".
