Great Neck, NY, United States
$8–$10 ≈ €21,500–26,500 rough estimate for 3,000 grafts Per graft · Cost detailsBackground
Dr Alan Feller is the founder and lead surgeon of Feller & Boucher Medical in Great Neck, New York 1. The clinic is at 287 Northern Blvd., Suite 200 2. The practice was previously Feller & Bloxham Medical, and the contact page title still uses that name 3. The clinic says he has done hair transplants exclusively since 1994 and that his practice is limited to hair restoration surgery 4. He works with Dr Shane Boucher, whom the clinic calls Director of Surgery 1. The homepage says Dr Feller has performed over 15,000 procedures 5. The site gives his experience as both over 20 years and 30 years on different pages 45.
Procedures and techniques
The clinic offers FUT, FUE, a modified FUT and FUE technique and repair of earlier transplants 5. It calls FUT the gold standard and describes FUE as an adjunct for small cases or patients who cannot have FUT 6. Its FUE page says FUE should not be used for more than about 1,200 grafts unless combined with FUT 6. For FUE, it says the doctor uses a punch of usually about 0.9 mm and removes the grafts himself 6. For FUT, it says the doctor removes the strip and makes the recipient slits with custom-cut blades of 0.7 mm to 1.1 mm 7. About eight technicians dissect the strip under microscopes and place the grafts 7. The FUT page names Dr Boucher as the doctor who meets the patient on the day of surgery; the site does not say how cases are split between the two surgeons 7. The clinic says it uses no robotic systems 2.
Pricing
The clinic publishes a fee schedule, marked as updated on 1 April 2021 8. FUE costs $8 to $10 per graft 8. FUT is charged by session size: $14,750 for 2,800 to 3,000 grafts, with bands from $8,000 for 800 grafts or fewer to $18,000 for 5,000 grafts and over 8. A non-refundable first payment of $2,500 is due when booking, and patients pay separately for required blood work, usually under $250 8.
Booking and aftercare
Consultations are free, according to the homepage 5. They are held online, with photos reviewed by Dr Feller or Dr Boucher, or in the office 9. The clinic says all consultations are done by physicians and that patients who are not candidates by its criteria are not taken for surgery 9. It asks FUT patients to return at 6, 12 and 18 months, and FUE patients at about two weeks 76. No guarantee is published on the cost or consultation pages 89.

kszynkar had a 2,700-graft FUT with Dr Alan Feller in New York in 2013, at age 27, and paid about 14k USD. About ten years later they say they were happy with the work and that it restored their hairline, which they focused on because the future crown pattern was uncertain. They now cover the crown with hair fibres and combing, and note the hairline hair has thinned since, which they assume is old native hair falling out. They were asking about another surgeon for a second procedure.

action-jaxxon, in a comment on a thread about a different surgeon, says he went to NYC for his first transplant, an FUE with Dr Feller in 2010, and that it 'failed, yielded 20% of grafts'. He later went to Dr Rahal in Canada in 2012 and reports a stunning result there. He gives no graft count, price or photos for the Feller procedure; this is a single, years-old account.

Technical-Ad-51 commented in someone else's thread about an unhappy result from another surgeon, recommending Alan Feller as a repair option at about 14k and saying 'speaking from experience'. They say he is ethical and won't BS you. The comment does not say whether they were his patient, what was done, or any graft count or outcome, so this is a single recommendation rather than a patient report.

hamitong20, an NW5a, had a FUT at Feller Medical in 2018 and commented at about the 3-month mark while waiting for hair to sprout. He called Alan Feller a 'Great doc' but was worried about the thickness of his scar, which he described as about 2-3mm. No graft count or price is given.
- male surgery 2017
Djs3634 had not yet had surgery when he commented in November 2017 that Feller and Bloxham in NY are the most reputable surgeons in the northeast, and that he had surgery scheduled with them later that month. At his consultation Dr Feller told him he had a thick donor and recommended 3,100 grafts, and he planned to ask whether Feller could do more by FUT. No price is given and no result is reported.

obesePATHrider has not had surgery and consulted Alan Feller in 2016 about roughly 1,600 grafts; it was assumed to be FUT and they did not discuss FUE, which he wishes he had raised. He called Feller extremely good at hairlines and said both Feller and Rahal are excellent choices for FUT or FUE. In 2017 he said that whenever he does it, it will be with Feller and Bloxham.

tmar89 commented in a 2018 thread about people's transplant experiences. They say that Dr. Feller looked at their earlier transplant and said they had been butchered and that he did not even see more than 300 grafts. This describes a consultation about a previous procedure; no procedure with Dr. Feller, price or result is stated.
