Dr. Bessam Farjo
Founding Director & Lead Hair Restoration Surgeon·Farjo Hair Institute
United Kingdom
Background
Bessam Farjo trained at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and specialised in hair transplant surgery in Toronto, Canada 2. He is Founding Director and Lead Hair Restoration Surgeon of the Farjo Hair Institute, based in Manchester and London 1. He works alongside his wife Dr Nilofer Farjo and other clinic colleagues 2. Farjo has spoken publicly about his own genetic hair loss and an earlier transplant before today's techniques existed, saying it helps him relate to patients with a strong family history 1.
Procedures and techniques
The clinic offers FUE and Strip FUT hair transplants 1. A third-party profile adds that Farjo also carries out eyebrow, beard and body hair transplants and repair work 2. For FUE, extraction uses 0.8mm-1.1mm punches; the clinic says incisions are doctor-only, with technicians dense-packing grafts at 35-50 per square centimetre for an 85-90% survival rate 4. Strip FUT grafts are divided under stereoscopic microscopes, harvesting about 30% more hair than older techniques, with the donor site closed by a trichophytic closure to help hide the scar 5. The same third-party profile says Farjo's repair work often involves "recycling" old grafts and redistributing them into a more natural pattern, and can use beard, chest or abdomen hair as an extra donor source 2. The clinic advises against surgery for patients under 25 with early-stage loss and a strong family history of baldness 6.
Pricing
Booking and aftercare
Consultations take place in Manchester or London 1. The clinic asks patients to grow their hair to at least 5-10mm beforehand so it can be assessed properly 7. It says a treatment date is not usually booked at that first visit, and patients are instead encouraged to go home, think it over, and sometimes speak with a past patient near where they live 7.
Credentials and memberships
Farjo is a Diplomate of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery and a Fellow and Past President of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, and holds roles with the British Association of Hair Restoration Surgery and the Institute of Trichologists 1.

- Chose local UK surgeon; calls Farjo an OG source ↗
They reported a 1,500-graft FUT temple procedure with Dr Farjo in 2023, costing £5.5k including PRP. They said they chose a UK surgeon because they lived close to Dr Farjo and considered him “one of the OGs😈”. No outcome or complications were reported.

u/FamiliarCricket5777 reported a 1,500-graft FUT procedure with Dr Farjo. They said they and Dr Farjo chose the hairline together; Dr Farjo recommended not lowering the sides too far because they were 22 and naturally had a large forehead. They did not give an overall verdict on the surgeon or result.

OP, seeking a specialist to fix a botched transplant done elsewhere, consulted Dr Farjo around mid-2024, who offered a repair of about 1500 grafts for roughly £7500. OP felt this was 'just too little of a repair' given how much of the front hairline still needed work, but said Farjo 'insisted' on that number. OP did not proceed with Farjo and, as of a November 2024 update, planned to consult other doctors instead.

The user consulted Bessam Farjo about a repair but did not proceed. They say he quoted about £7,500 for 1,500 grafts. They characterized that as too little of a repair and said that was the amount he insisted on.

- Only UK doctor to consider source ↗
Balodys reported a 2,000-graft FUE procedure to the crown with Dr. Farjo in June 2024, after previous surgeries and concerns about remaining donor supply. They said Dr. Farjo managed to obtain another 2,000 grafts, but were still waiting to see the outcome at their latest update. Overall, they described him as the only UK doctor to consider.

- donor work solid, doesn't over-harvest source ↗
- recipient results "unspectacular," cherry-picked source ↗
Lopsided_Pair5727 is not a patient of Dr. Farjo; they commented after reviewing his publicly posted results in a UK clinics thread (2024-01-04). They judged his donor-area work solid — good donor management, no over-harvesting of fine-caliber grafts, small punch — but called the recipient-area outcomes "unspectacular," noting the posted results are clinic-picked. Their overall assessment was backhanded: his work is "highly desirable for a man in his 70's who wants to look like an ok 50-something-year-old."

Noahchristensen is not a surgery patient of Bessam Farjo — in a 2023-01-13 thread about which EU countries prescribe oral minoxidil (Loniten), they mentioned getting a prescription 'from Dr Farjo hair clinic in England' via the clinic's non-surgical treatment page, after others in the thread had failed to find a legal EU source. They noted the consultation was expensive but the medication itself was not, without offering any further evaluation of care quality or results.

- not blown away by some results source ↗
u/Definitely-Not-Joe- was never a Farjo patient — commenting on a London clinics thread (Oct 2022), he noted Farjo and Wimpole 'have good reputations' and that Farjo is 'considered on there as one of the UKs best' on Hair Restoration Network. But he added he 'found his prices on the high end and wasn't a blown away with some of his results on there,' and suggested that money might go further with an elite European surgeon like Bisanga. He ultimately booked with Dr Manish Mittal in London instead, citing a wish to stay in the UK.

- rejected for surgery due to young age source ↗
In 2022, MediumAcanthaceae486 consulted several well-known surgeons — including Bessam Farjo, Bloxham, Konior, and Bisanga — about a hair transplant, but reports being rejected by all of them. They cited this outcome approvingly as proof that operating on someone their age is unwise, saying "I consulted with some of the best doctors in the world and they all rejected me." No surgery, price, or technique was ever discussed, since the consultation ended in rejection rather than treatment.
