Background

Dr Mario García Carmona is one of the two doctors at Kbapel Microinjerto Capilar, a hair transplant clinic in the Anzures district of Mexico City 26. The clinic's site says (in Spanish) that he qualified in medicine at UNAM in 2008 2. It says he joined an FUE hair transplant clinic in 2010 and trained there as a consultant and doctor for more than three years 2. It says he then worked from 2013 to 2016 at a private clinic focused on medical treatment of hair loss 2. The clinic says it has specialised in FUE for men and women for 18 years 3. The other doctor on the team is Dra Miriam Garcés Tejeda 2.

Procedures and techniques

Kbapel performs FUE, beard, moustache and eyebrow transplants, female hair transplants and scar restoration, and offers medical hair treatments 13. The FAQ says it uses punches of 0.75 to 1.0 mm, with no stitches, and extracts about 10% of the donor area 5. It says chest hair can also be used as a donor source 5. The clinic says a doctor gives the local anaesthesia, extracts the grafts and implants them, while the nursing team prepares the grafts 4. It does not say which of its two doctors operates on a given patient 4. A session usually takes 5 to 7 hours, under local anaesthesia with a muscle relaxant 5. The clinic says it has treated more than 5,500 patients 4.

Pricing

The clinic does not publish prices on its site 1. It says a doctor gives the cost of the procedure at the free assessment 6.

Booking and aftercare

The assessment is free and includes a trichoscopy; patients who cannot attend can send photos for a virtual assessment 46. The clinic is open Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 18:00, and Saturday, 9:00 to 14:00 6. Its branches page lists only the Mexico City clinic 7. The FAQ says most patients return to their activities within about 24 hours 5. The clinic advises no exercise for two weeks, no swimming for a month and no direct sun for three months 4. It says follow-up visits continue until the result at about 14 months, and promises lifetime follow-up 4.

Credentials and memberships

He is an ISHRS Full Member and joined ISHRS in 2013 8. The clinic says he is an active member of the Ibero-Latin American hair transplant society (SILATC) 2. It says he has taught an FUE course endorsed by IPPC and UNAM since 2013 2.
