Dr. Robert Dorin

Robert J. Dorin is Founder and Medical Director of The Hair Loss Doctors by Robert J. Dorin, formerly True & Dorin Medical Group.1 He began working with Dr. Robert True in 2002 after his own hair loss led him to a hair restoration with True.1 The clinic's homepage says True later retired, leaving Dorin to carry on the practice, with headquarters in Garden City, New York, and clinics in Short Hills, New Jersey, Boston, Massachusetts, and New York City.2 Dorin holds a D.O. from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine.1

The clinic offers FUE, FUT, PRP therapy and medical hair loss treatment.2 Dorin says he personally performs every FUE excision, not technicians or a robot, using punches sized 0.75 to 1.00mm, and creates receptor sites by hand with microblades sized 0.7 to 1.3mm, which the clinic says allow densities up to 50 grafts per square centimeter; technicians then place the grafts.4 Its "Zone Shave FUE" option harvests grafts without cutting hair, or by shaving only narrow hidden bands, which it says a robot cannot do.4 FUT takes three to six hours via a donor strip.2 FUE is also used for body and facial hair restoration.4 For patients unhappy with results elsewhere, the practice offers revision work softening old "plug" hairlines.2

Dr. Dorin charges a $175 consultation fee, credited toward the cost of surgery if a patient proceeds.3 The clinic does not publish per-graft or package pricing; cost depends on desired hair thickness, degree of hair loss, and grafts harvested, plus optional add-ons like PRP.3 Financing is available through CareCredit and Cherry Financing.4

Consultations, in person or online, typically last 30 to 60 minutes and cover goals, a density exam, and a graft plan, after which patients get written cost and care materials.2 It historically preferred in-person visits but says online consultations can now fully assess candidacy before the procedure day.2 The clinic describes an "open door" policy inviting prospective patients to meet former patients.1

Dorin is a Diplomate of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery and lists membership with the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, the International Alliance of Hair Restoration Surgeons, the American Osteopathic Association, and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.1 He also appears in the IAHRS's member directory.5
