Dr. Sara Salas
Founder and treating physician·Baja Hair Center
Tijuana, Mexico
$3,950–$9,500 Per procedure · Cost detailsBackground
Dr Sara Salas practises at Baja Hair Center in Tijuana, Mexico 1. The clinic says it is a 10 minute drive from the San Diego border 2. Her clinic biography describes her as a board-certified dermatologist and the founder of Baja Hair Center 3. It does not name the board that certified her 3. The clinic says it was established in 2014 4. The same practice also runs dermatology and medispa services under the name Baja Medi Spa 5.
Procedures and techniques
The clinic lists short hair FUE, long hair FUE, eyebrow, beard and moustache transplants, scalp micropigmentation, laser hair treatments, a cord blood stem cell treatment and hair systems 5. No strip (FUT) procedure is listed on its current site 5. Its FAQ says it places 1-, 2-, 3- and 4-hair units closely and randomly to imitate natural growth 6. It says the number of grafts needed depends on hair texture, colour, degree of baldness and density goals, and is set at a personal consultation 6. Its short hair FUE page describes ideal candidates as having healthy donor areas and realistic expectations 7. The site does not say who performs extraction, incisions or implantation; its packages page says surgery is "performed by Board-Certified hair restoration surgeon" 8.
Pricing
The clinic publishes hair transplant packages in US dollars, priced by follicle (hair) count rather than graft count 8. The page links to an explainer on the difference between a graft and a follicle, so these are not per-graft prices 8. The listed prices are $3,950 for up to 3,000 follicles, $4,500 for 2,600 to 4,500 follicles, $6,500 for 6,000 to 7,500 follicles and $9,500 for 8,000 to 9,000 follicles 8. Each is shown as a reduction from a higher struck-through price 8. The clinic says packages include transport from San Diego airport, all follow-up consultations with Dr Salas, growth factors, bilingual staff and a 24/7 post-operative care service 8. Eyebrow transplants of up to 600 follicles are listed at $2,500 8.
Booking and aftercare
The clinic offers a free virtual consultation 2. Its FAQ also invites patients to visit at no charge 6. It says a medical condition is discussed with Dr Salas at consultation, with lab work before any procedure 6. Follow-up consultations are included in the packages, but no aftercare period is stated 8. The contact page gives opening hours of Monday to Friday 8:00 to 18:00 and Saturday 9:00 to 17:00 1. The street number of the clinic differs between pages of its site 154.

Noob_Nooob had a second transplant with Dr Salas at Baja Hair Center in Tijuana after wasting donor hair on a first one in Denver. They report about 3000 grafts from the donor area plus a little over 600 from the beard, around 3600 in total, at roughly $2.75-$3.00 per graft. In March 2024 they said "I have nothing bad to say about Salas", and at 3.5 months the beard hair on the crown "looks like normal hair now". In October 2025 they were very satisfied with complete coverage, wanted a bit more crown density, and said the beard scar shows if they shave and look closely.

- Apr 2024 I sent the doctor in TJ these photos and they straight up said "No, we can not help you"...I didn't think my situation was THAT bad that a Tijuana doctor rejects me as a client...what do you think? Is it impossible to at least fill in the mid and crown and leave a big forehead? Or donor area is bad? ↗

shannich had 3,200 grafts with Dr. Sara Salas at Baja Hair Center in Tijuana in late 2025 and paid about 7k ($2.20 a graft). At day 3 they wrote that she was thorough, communication was great and the procedure was painless; they valued that she designed the hairline and did the extractions and incisions. At 3.5 months they saw a lot of growth after shedding by about 1.5 months and said they were 'pretty happy with their process and so far happy with how it’s turning out'. They noted the website packages are stated in follicles rather than grafts.

Amazing_Ad_8198 said in October 2025 that they are booked at TJ Hair Clinic for November with Dr. Salas as their assigned doctor, and had seen just a few reviews about her. They said the clinic told them they might need 2 transplants as they are at an advanced stage. They had not had surgery with her and gave no verdict.

Lavender-yay had a procedure with Dr Sara Salas at Baja Hair Center in Tijuana in 2023, choosing her on Dr Rassman's recommendation. Just over two years later they gave the experience a "B-": the hairline is very good and blends in, and the cost was given up front, but they disliked the pre-op visit and had to work out recovery on their own. They also report a second health condition that worsened permanently after the procedure, and say she was not forthcoming about the sedative pills. They would not mind picking her again but would consider other places.

Kitchen_Loquat_3523 says they had a transplant in Tijuana with Dr. Sara Salas about two months before commenting in August 2022, and gives no graft count, price or photos. They chose her because she is 'regarded here in Mexico as probably the most up to date and hands-on HT surgeon', and recommend her alongside Dr. Nader as producing 'top notch results'. These are early comments recommending the surgeon rather than a detailed result report.

DesertRyan875 had a second procedure with Dr Sara Salas in Tijuana in May 2021, 2200 grafts (200 into a prior FUT scar), after a first FUT in San Diego. He paid about $6,050 including meds, plus extra for a cross-border pick-up, at roughly 2.50 per graft before extras. The day after surgery he wrote that she more than exceeded his expectations and that he would choose her over his first surgeon hands down. No longer-term results were posted.

LizardMan1000 has not had surgery and is considering Dr Salas at Baja Hair in Tijuana, alongside Nader and Cortez; he says the consensus is he needs roughly 2k grafts in the crown. He says he had a great interaction with her over video chat and counts her fellowship with and endorsement by Dr William Rassman as positives. He is concerned by the lack of patient testimonials on Reddit and Hair Restoration Network and notes her before-and-after photos are hand-selected by the doctor.

They said 'I felt that she didn’t provide enough information for me to go forward with her', and found it odd that she is active on Instagram but posts almost none of her work. They have held off.

TravelingBlueBear, who had a first transplant in San Diego, says Dr Salas in Tijuana 'actually did a better job' and that they wish they had not spent double the first time; graft count, price and date of the Salas procedure are not given. They chose her over HMR because her facility is much nicer and she is more respected in the community, and found her much more professional. They wrote 'Dr Salas is my personal rec.' and suggest consulting both her and HMR.
