Dr. Robert H. True is een gepensioneerde haarherstelchirurg wiens praktijk in Manhattan voorheen bekendstond als True & Dorin Medical Group.1 Zijn eigen site vermeldt hem nu als emeritus, onlangs met pensioen.2 De praktijk wordt voortgezet door zijn voormalige partner Dr. Robert J. Dorin.3 Dr. Dorin kwam oorspronkelijk tijdens zijn opleiding tot specialist bij Dr. True als patiënt voor de behandeling van zijn eigen haarverlies, en de kliniek stelt dat Dr. True na vele jaren samenwerking "felt confident in the capable hands of Dr. Dorin and retired, allowing him to carry on the practice and their impressive legacy."3 Zijn bio-pagina stelt dat zijn weg naar het vak volgde op dienstverlenend werk onder achtergestelde bevolkingsgroepen in de VS, Afrika en Azië, waarna hij geïnteresseerd raakte in haarherstelchirurgie.2 Hij begon in 1991 met een specifieke opleiding in haarherstel en richtte kort daarna zijn eigen praktijk in New York City op; de kliniek stelt zijn totaal over zijn loopbaan op meer dan 20.000 ingrepen bij mannen, vrouwen, transgenders en patiënten van alle etniciteiten.2
Behandelingen en technieken
Het cv van Dr. True vermeldt twee praktijkgerichte fellowships vroeg in zijn loopbaan in haarherstel: een preceptorship in chirurgisch haarherstel bij R.M. Elliott, MD, in Los Angeles, gevolgd door verdere fellowship-opleiding in scalp extension en slot correction bij Dr. Patrick Frechet in Parijs.1 Omdat hij inmiddels met pensioen is, beschrijven de details over techniek en chirurgische planning die de site van de kliniek nu publiceert de huidige praktijk van Dr. Dorin en niet de eigen methoden van Dr. True, en daarom worden ze hier niet aan hem toegeschreven.2
Kwalificaties en lidmaatschappen
Zijn artsendiploma is van de Faculty of Medicine van McGill University.1 Hij is Diplomate van de American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery, en het cv stelt dat hij president van die board was.1 Hij was ook Fellow van de American Board of Family Practice.2 Zijn bio-pagina noemt verdere lidmaatschappen, waaronder een adviserende rol bij de International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, de American Society of Hair Restoration Surgeons en de International Alliance of Hair Restoration Surgeons, naast andere.2 De ISHRS-directory vermeldt hem als Emeritus Fellow die in 1993 lid werd van de vereniging.4

They characterized it as “a big failure,” citing poor growth and density, and said both doctors admitted the outcome was bad. They reported being offered a $2,000 refund and later pursued a second FUE procedure with a different Manhattan surgeon.
