The Hair Dr omschrijft zichzelf als een privépraktijk die "surgeon-led medical treatment" voor haaruitval biedt, en stelt dat een transplantatie niet altijd de uitkomst is die zij aanraadt 1. Behandelingen en technieken
De kliniek biedt FUE, FUT en Body Hair Follicular Unit Excision (BHFUE), plus baard-, wenkbrauw- en wimpertransplantaties 4. Bij FUE worden donorhaareenheden van ongeveer 0,75-1 mm verwijderd met een instrument dat de kliniek een micropunch noemt; de chirurg maakt daarna de ontvangstplekken, of "slits," terwijl technici de grafts plaatsen, en het geheel is meestal binnen acht uur klaar 5. Van FUT, omschreven als "the strip technique," wordt gezegd dat het "a much greater degree of surgical expertise" vereist, en het heeft de voorkeur wanneer er meer grafts nodig zijn 6. BHFUE vergroot de donorvoorraad met passend lichaamshaar wanneer de donorplekken op de hoofdhuid beperkt zijn 4.
Prijzen
FUE kost vanaf £3,00 per graft, dus 1.000 grafts kosten ongeveer £3.000; voor FUT is geen aparte prijs per graft gepubliceerd 7. Scalp micropigmentation begint vanaf £800 of £1.800, afhankelijk van de omvang, lasertherapie kost £50 per sessie of £1.500 voor een jaar, en consulten worden als gratis aangeboden 7. De pagina over de kliniek schrijft Clinic Director Sommiya Hanif de "personal responsibility for overseeing key aspects of patient aftercare," toe, naast een verplichte controle na 12 maanden voor elke transplantatiepatiënt 1. Het advies is ongeveer een week vrij te nemen van werk, en bij FUT worden de hechtingen na 10-14 dagen verwijderd 8.
Kwalificaties en lidmaatschappen
Volgens de teampagina heeft Dr Arshad de titel FRCS (ORL-HNS) van het Royal College of Surgeons of England 3. Hij is volgens de ledenlijst van de vereniging full member van de ISHRS 9.
