Dr Koray Erdogan behaalde zijn artsendiploma aan de Hacettepe University, vervulde zijn militaire dienst en werkte daarna als assistent op de afdeling thoraxchirurgie van de Marmara University 1. In 2001 richtte hij ASMED op, zijn eigen kliniek in Atasehir, Istanbul 1. De kliniek stelt dat zijn klinische werk gericht is op FUE-haartransplantatie 1. In 2004 had hij een eigen FUE-extractiemethode ontwikkeld die de kliniek de Sequential Technique noemt 1.
Behandelingen en technieken
ASMED stelt dat het een handmatige punch gebruikt met zijn sequentiële (DES) extractietechniek, waarbij type, maat en diepte van de punch per patiënt worden gekozen, en zegt dat op deze manier tot 1.000 grafts per uur zonder schade kunnen worden verwijderd 2. De ontvangende incisies worden door Dr Erdogan zelf gemaakt onder loepvergroting, met een laterale-slittechniek en op maat gemaakte mesjes, en de kliniek plaatst grafts met één haar aan de voorste haarlijn, wat volgens de kliniek een natuurlijk, zacht uiterlijk geeft 2. Grafts worden geplaatst met een instrument dat Erdogan heeft ontwikkeld, de K.E.E.P. embedding placer, en de plaatsing wordt bewaakt en aan het einde opnieuw gecontroleerd; de site zegt niet wie de grafts verwijdert en plaatst, en vermeldt hun kwalificaties niet 2. Het consult omvat een onderzoek met de microscoop plus meting van de dichtheid en de haardiameter, en de haarlijn wordt met de hand getekend na beoordeling van de gezichtsstructuur, waarbij de patiënt het ontwerp goedkeurt voordat het definitief wordt 2.
Prijzen
De kliniek rekent een vast bedrag van €3,5 per graft, wereldwijd hetzelfde, ook voor de Turkse binnenlandse markt 3. Volgens de kliniek dekt de prijs de operatiefaciliteit, het consult, de handmatige DES-techniek, het haarlijnontwerp, bloedonderzoek en een ECG, pijnbestrijding onder leiding van een anesthesioloog, kwaliteitscontrole van de grafts met de microscoop, optionele LLLT na de ingreep, een nazorgset en een adviseur die moedertaalspreker is 3.
Boeken en nazorg
De kliniek biedt een consult op basis van foto's of op locatie, meestal in Turkije, al zegt de kliniek dat ze dit soms ook elders regelt 4. Patiënten komen de dag na de ingreep terug voor een wasbeurt en controle 2. Een tweede ingreep wordt, indien nodig, meestal 12-14 maanden na de eerste gepland, zodat de chirurg kan beoordelen hoe de eerste grafts zijn gegroeid voordat er nieuwe worden geplaatst 4.

They said Erdogan performed the incision stage while technicians performed extraction and implantation.
