Dr. Blake Bloxham
Founder and lead surgeon·Bloxham Medical (formerly Feller & Bloxham Hair Transplantation)
New York, United States
Background
Blake Bloxham founded Bloxham Medical in St. Louis, Missouri, described on its site as a continuation of his earlier partnership with Dr. Alan Feller, Feller & Bloxham 6. He traces his interest in the field to helping his grandmother, who had chemotherapy-induced alopecia, find treatment during his undergraduate years 1. Before medical school he worked in the online hair-loss patient community, where he came into contact with Feller, and he later trained under Feller during a postgraduate fellowship in Great Neck, New York before the two opened a shared practice 2.
Procedures and techniques
Bloxham Medical offers FUE, FUT (strip), combination FUT/FUE, modified procedures, repair, and eyebrow transplants 1. In FUE, the clinic states Bloxham performs the follicle extraction; implantation is by hand or with implanter tools 3. In FUT, the strip is removed and Bloxham closes the donor area himself; technicians then dissect it into follicular units 4. It offers a trichophytic closure meant to reduce the visibility of the donor scar, and describes dense packing up to 60 grafts per square centimeter 4. The clinic staffs 7 to 12 trained technicians, a doctor plus two or three per case 5. Mega-sessions exceed 4,000 grafts 2. It states Bloxham will tell patients honestly if they are not good candidates, though no criteria are published 6.
Pricing
The clinic prices by session size rather than per graft, based on transplanted hairs 5. No dollar figures are published. Scheduling requires a non-refundable $2,500 deposit, with the balance due by surgery day 5. Pre-op blood work, typically under $250, is arranged through the patient's own physician, not one tied to the clinic 5.
Booking and aftercare
The clinic offers a free virtual consultation 1. Patients meet with Bloxham beforehand so the session is sized individually 5. On surgery day the clinic reviews consent forms, takes pre-op photographs, reconfirms the hairline design, and shaves the donor area before local anesthesia; sessions run 6 to 12 hours 8. Results typically appear over 12 to 18 months 8. Aftercare includes a post-surgery kit and scheduled follow-ups, plus ongoing long-term support, though no duration is quantified 7.

2kglizzy had FUT with Blake Bloxham (Feller & Bloxham, NYC) in August 2022, reporting 3,600 grafts at a cost of $16,000. He praised Bloxham's hairline work as conservative and well-constructed, and in 2025 said the transplant 'changed my mood and outlook on life for the better' — but repeatedly criticized Bloxham for implanting grafts in rows, and by late 2023 reported a noticeable FUT scar, said his 'density is not there,' and stated he 'would not get an FUT here in the states' again. He also noted the implanted hair grew in shorter than the rest, making it a hassle to style.

theopilk had FUT with Dr. Bloxham in 2024, about 2,500 grafts to the front for a NW3 case, with Bloxham personally drawing the hairline and doing the incisions while technicians placed the grafts. At around 3-4 months out he called results 'fine' but noted visible 'rows on the midsection' and felt Bloxham 'cares more for money than for consistency and professionalism,' though he found him responsive to messages within 1-2 days. By August 2024 he was defending Bloxham as 'a fine, safe option if you're looking for FUT' whose bad reputation he felt was 'unfair,' while still shopping for a second transplant. His final update in February 2025 landed mixed-positive: 'I don't think he is the best by any means and has his faults but I was ultimately happy with my results.'

Suspicious-Trick1399 had a 2,200-graft FUT hairline procedure with Blake Bloxham at Feller and Bloxham in NY, completed February 2023 for about $11,000, having described himself pre-op as roughly Norwood 2 and 'confident I'm in good hands.' Right after surgery he called Bloxham and the techs 'great,' noting Bloxham gave him a personal number for follow-up questions, though the treatment chair hurt his neck. At his 6-month update he said he was 'pretty damn happy with it,' calling results 'coming along great,' while still hoping for further density.

- 28 yo 2,500 grafts surgery 2020
- good experience overall, though expensive source ↗
- very happy with added hairline volume source ↗
- wished temples rounded off more source ↗
- donor scar flat but noticeable bald gap source ↗
- still wishes hairline were lower, square source ↗
u/alexfleur had a roughly 2,500-graft FUT transplant with Dr. Bloxham (Feller and Bloxham) in October 2020, with no price stated. Reporting back at 5 years post-op, they called it 'a good experience albeit expensive af' and, in an earlier update, said they were 'very happy with the result (especially the added volume in the hairline).' Lingering gripes were cosmetic rather than complications: they wished he'd rounded off their temples more, and still wish their hairline were a bit lower and less square, though they attribute that to their natural childhood hairline rather than the surgery. Their donor scar is flat but leaves a noticeable bald gap, which they keep hidden by wearing their hair long.

dymablink had two FUT procedures with Blake Bloxham in NYC: 3,000 grafts for $14,000 in November 2020 (as a Norwood 6), then about a year later 1,900 more grafts for $10,000 — a combined 4,900 grafts for roughly $24,000. Posting in 2023-01-08 he called both surgeries with Bloxham 'a waste of money,' and by 2023-04-24 (30 months post-op) he elaborated that while 'his work on others seems good,' for him it 'wasnt worth $14k and a fut scar,' leaving him with a visible FUT scar and unfilled hair and no refund due to a signed waiver. Elsewhere he described the combined result as 'not bad' given his NW6 starting point, but his dominant stance is negative to mixed.

milind95 had FUT with Dr. Bloxham at Feller & Bloxham in NYC in 2021, roughly 3,000 grafts for $14,000. His updates traced a rocky recovery: at 13 weeks he wasn't happy with the slow progress, and at 4 months he had "more hairs than I have had in years but they haven't maturized," with widow's peaks still unfilled by 5 months. By 10 months he grew alarmed that hair behind the frontal band still hadn't grown in, writing "Yeah lesson learned. I saw this coming," but at his final update, 13 months out, the shock loss had resolved (which he credits to restarting finasteride) and he reported it "Still looking well."

They called the result 'a bit underwhelming but still a significant improvement,' but were 'more disappointed with the resulting scar,' which came out 'significantly wider than usual (4-5 mm instead of 1-3mm).' Despite not having 'the greatest experience there,' they said they don't regret getting the procedure done and would 'still recommend going through with the FUT procedure.'

u/Dr_InYourMouth had surgery with Blake Bloxham (Fuller and Bloxham) in 2022, booked for 3,500 grafts on the crown/mid-crown and ultimately reporting 3,600 grafts done, paying 14,000 USD, with finasteride use starting three months before surgery. Before the procedure they expressed confidence in the surgeon after researching him, writing 'He's good lol. I'm sticking with him!' At 9 months post-op they called the result a success, telling others 'Go get the procedure if you can. Life is much better with it.'

parrotpants55 paid $14,000 USD for a 1,700-graft FUT procedure with Dr. Blake Bloxham in November 2021. By 27 months post-op he reported his left side had 'never filled in like my right side did' and there was 'no improvement,' while also disputing Bloxham's claim that 2,700 grafts (not 1,700) had been implanted, with three unanswered requests for an OR-report transcription. He ultimately concluded 'I gave up. No point in suffering,' and planned to have his thin area filled in by a different doctor.

Sure-Board7558 had FUT with Dr. Bloxham in NY, receiving 2500 grafts (originally for hairline work), and posted an update 12 months post-op in March 2024. He rated the result 'below average despite the doc being very optimistic post-surgery,' citing a more visible strip scar and thin crown coverage, and said his scalp laxity wasn't clearly discussed at consultation. He went on to get FUE from a different surgeon (Dr. Laorwong) to add crown density and said he wished he'd gone FUE overseas from the start. A separate, earlier comment from 2022 noted Bloxham advised against treating his frontal loss due to shock-loss risk, leaving open a possible second procedure.

At day 6 post-op from a 2025 procedure with Dr Bloxham (assisted by Dr Parissis), the patient reported 2204 grafts via FUT and FUE, with roughly 1750 harvested from the strip; no price was stated. They described being 'a tad concerned with the density in both concerns, especially on the right,' but after a commenter's reassurance said 'that's reassuring to hear' and remained open to further surgery down the line if needed.

OP had ~1700 FUT grafts with Dr. Blake Bloxham in 2021, paying $14,075 after being quoted $2,300-2,500 less. At 26 months post-op his left side still hadn't filled in, and he said Bloxham did the strip harvesting himself but a visiting doctor handled parts of the procedure, which felt "like a classroom." He was pursuing a refund of the price difference and, looking back, said plainly: "Yeah, I regret going to bloxham now. Sighhh..."
