Background
Jerry Wong holds an MD from the University of Alberta and worked for several years as a general practitioner before moving into hair restoration surgery.1 He started a part-time hair transplant practice in 1993 and in 1997 co-founded the Hasson & Wong Hair Transplant Clinic in Vancouver with Dr. Victor Hasson, devoting his practice exclusively to hair restoration from that point.1 The clinic states that international patients make up half of its overall patient base.2
Procedures and techniques
Wong is credited by the clinic as the originator of the lateral slit technique, cutting recipient sites perpendicular to the direction of hair growth with the blade angled forward so transplanted hair sits at the same angle as existing hair.1 The clinic offers both FUT (strip) and FUE harvesting and says implantation quality depends on the doctors' skill regardless of which method collected the grafts.2 It classifies sessions of 3,000 or more grafts as megasessions and says it performs megasessions of three and four thousand grafts daily.2 Surgery runs roughly 5-6 hours under 2,000 grafts and 8 or more hours above 5,000.4
Pricing
The clinic's calculator lists FUE at $8 per graft for the first 2,000 grafts and $6 beyond that, with FUT priced at $6 for the first 2,000 and $4 beyond that; currency is not stated on the pricing page.3 Patients flying in for surgery of 2,000 grafts or more are offered a travel rebate plus two complimentary nights of accommodation.3 The clinic does not offer its own financing and instead directs patients to independent third-party financing companies.4
Booking and aftercare
The process starts with a free, no-obligation online assessment based on submitted photos; the clinic says its high volume of reviewed cases makes these estimates fairly accurate, though in-person exams can sometimes reveal more donor hair than first estimated.3 Patients return the day after surgery for a hair-washing lesson and a check-in with their physician, and the clinic recommends a minimum three-day stay in Vancouver.4
Credentials and memberships
The clinic's biography page states Wong served as a diplomate of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery and is a founding member of the Asian Association of Hair Restoration Surgery, where he remains active on the board of directors.1

u/NSFWhunta had 2,826 FUE grafts placed by Dr. Jerry Wong at Hasson & Wong on 2023-06-13, paying roughly $8/graft for the first 2,000 and $6/graft after (~20,956 CAD per a commenter's math, though OP separately said 'around 25k' at 6 months). He tracked the result from day one through a nearly-two-year final update: right after surgery he called the H&W team 'extremely professional and caring,' at 6 months said he was 'pretty thrilled' despite it being 'not perfect,' and by 14 months and again at 24 months described the result as 'night and day' and said he was 'Very happy with the results.' The one recurring criticism, from commenters, was a visible row pattern in the grafts, which OP defended as Wong's density rationale while conceding at 6 months that the critics 'aren't wrong'; no complications were reported.

Shuper4 booked an FUE procedure with Dr. Wong at Hasson & Wong, and about 5 months post-op reported it 'looking pretty good with zero scarring.' He had 3,500 grafts, paying 20,000 CAD; by his later update the hair had 'grew good' and was 'still big improvement from before,' but he felt Wong was too conservative, leaving his facial thirds and temporal region unaddressed at age 33 — Wong acknowledged the miss and offered a discounted revision (1,200+ grafts for 6,500 CDN). His overall verdict was mixed: 'He seems like a good guy, but I do not like it.'

u/Prestigious_Leave26 paid about $16,000 CAD for roughly 3,000 FUT grafts with Dr. Wong at Hasson & Wong in late 2023, hoping for added mid-scalp/hairline density and repair of an old FUT scar. By 6 months he reported no visible extra density, a hairline reshaped fully straight instead of his natural rounded one, and a donor scar stretched further after far more grafts were taken than the 1,500-1,800 he was quoted; he said he'd 'avoid this clinic like the plague.' By 8 months, with Dr. Wong telling him to wait until 12 months, OP called the result 'a waste of money, especially for being misled' and described the growth as poor with many ungrown stubble hairs.

OP had FUT surgery for 2877 grafts with Dr Jerry Wong at Hasson & Wong on March 22, 2022. Across four posts from April 2023 to July 2024, OP reported around 20% growth and a scar stretched to over 1cm, alleging an unlicensed tech performed most incisions without consent while the clinic repeatedly revised the recorded strip width. A 2024 medical board ruling found Wong had submitted fabricated records but did not find him negligent, which OP is appealing. OP calls Wong 'a disgrace of a physician and a disgrace of a human being' and urges others to completely avoid the clinic.

Six days out he called the process 'a breeze,' praising the clinic's post-op cleaning routine. By 7 months post-op his tone shifted: while he said the results 'look great and natural,' he reported the clinic quietly expanded his graft count mid-procedure without adequate disclosure, and stated plainly he 'would not recommend Dr.Wong to anyone' or return for future transplants.

In earlier posts (Dec 2023, Dec 2024) they similarly described the FUE outcome as 'coming out great' and said their 'results aren't mediocre,' adding that Dr. Wong personally performed the extractions, incisions, and about half of the graft implants. No complications, price, or exact surgery date were reported.

At age 22, OG_Krew had a botched hair transplant done elsewhere, then contacted Dr. Jerry Wong (Hasson & Wong), who removed the 'plugs' just a couple of days after the original procedure. No grafts, technique, or cost are stated for Wong's work. Fifteen years later, OG_Krew says his hairline still hasn't recovered, but he does not attribute this to Wong's plug-removal procedure and gives no explicit verdict on it — the account is purely factual.

In a 2022-07-16 post, a 26-year-old Norwood 5-6 patient with no prior transplant surgery got a quote from Dr Jerry Wong for FUT, 4000 grafts, at 20,000 CAD, one of five surgeons/clinics he was considering. He said he 'boiled it down to HLC or Asmed Clinic because i feel that's where i can get the best HT for the price,' suggesting Wong's cost weighed against choosing him. No surgery with Wong took place and no outcome was reported.
