Dr. Kuniyoshi Yagyu

Dr Kuniyoshi Yagyu performs the "Hair Strong" transplants of AGA Skin Clinic, a Japanese hair loss clinic chain, as its special adviser since December 2021 1. The chain says (in Japanese) that these transplants take place only at its Tokyo Shinagawa and Osaka Nishi-Umeda branches 1. He graduated from the University of Tokyo Faculty of Medicine in 1976 and worked as a thoracic and cardiovascular surgeon before becoming director of a Tokyo hair transplant clinic in October 2003 1. The site names him by surname only, as Dr Yagyu (柳生医師) 1. The Shinagawa branch has a different doctor as branch director 2.

The clinic offers three FUE options that differ by donor hair length: shaved, cut to 2 to 3 cm, or left long 1. It says punches have an outer diameter of 0.5 to 0.8 mm, chosen per patient 1. Recipient sites are slits made with a very small knife, and grafts are placed with a dedicated instrument rather than forceps 1. The clinic says a doctor performs every step of the transplant, one graft at a time 1. It says sessions average about 1,000 to 1,300 grafts, with a maximum of 2,000 grafts 1.

At regular prices, the clinic's table lists 1,067 yen per graft for the shaved option, 2,090 yen for the cut option and 4,290 yen for the long-hair option 1. Its listed totals for 500 and 1,000 grafts run from 533,500 to 4,290,000 yen 1. A base treatment fee of 220,000 yen, which includes the blood test, is charged on top 1. Lower prices apply to patients who agree to have their photos published 1. Patients from outside the Tokyo and Osaka areas whose procedure costs over 550,000 yen get help with travel costs 1.

The clinic says transplant consultations are done by Dr Yagyu and other transplant doctors, not by counsellors 1. It says the procedure is a day surgery and that normal life can resume the next day 1. Post-operative checks are booked as appointments 1.

The clinic lists him as an ABHRS specialist, an ISHRS Fellow and the ISHRS's 24th president, and an AAHRS board member 1. It also lists Japanese surgery, cardiology and respiratory medicine specialist titles 1. Registry records list him as an ABHRS diplomate and an ISHRS Fellow at the Shinagawa address 34.
